Well, about 2 hours into the race, we began hearing that dreaded sound of an engine about to blow and it was soon all over for us. And so goes all our dreams of professional racing careers…With our tails between our legs, we packed it up and left the track, sad and gloomy. The long ride home did provide some light and Scott began the formal Root Cause Analysis process(He is a pro at that!). We broke it all down and figured out what the problems were…we can do this. We will be back! That is, if Jay will have us, pretty please Jay!?!?

The 24 Hours of LeMons is a weekend-long race for cars purchased, fixed up, and track-prepped for total of $500 or less. Each team must also survive qualifying rounds such as the Marxist Parking Valet, the Widdling Rottweiler Slalom, and/or the Stoney Bike-Messenger Shooting Gallery. Generally, track racing begins at 4:00 pm Saturday and runs until 4 pm Sunday, with a late-night intermission for sleeping, eating, and Band-Aid application. Count on plenty of noise, prizes, water fights, and questionably civilized fun before, during, and after the track sessions. Finally, assuming you’re still standing, there’s the gala awards ceremony which presents trophies, plaques, and winner’s purses paid out in nickels.

It all started…when Tim read about the race in the local newspaper. He roped the rest of us in, we had no choice. We are number 57, the Lemon Voyeur…
We are racing a Saturn SL-2 on 12/29/07 and 12/30/07 at Thunderhill Raceway Park, near Willows, California. We have installed a video camera in the car and will be “broadcasting” from our site while we race!  Our Saturn SL2 is of very questionable integrity, trying our best to keep 4 wheels on the ground, and 4 cylinders in the block. But the most exciting part is that we will be using the latest in stolen or hacked technology to satisfy the masses need to be a part of this event with a streaming video feed right here!
Also we are using this event to raise money for Trish’s girls at http://GrowingUpTogether.net/ We estimate a complete race at approximately 770 laps, not that the beast you see above will make that! But we are asking all of our friends to offer a per lap commitment of $.01 to 1 Swedish Krono. We could crap out on lap 1 (wouldn’t you feel like a jerk if you you only committed one lousy penny!) or we could go 770 laps (not likely!!) Every cent goes to helping Teen Moms to stay in school! In any event…watch our heap puke it guts out LIVE on our website this weekend. Wish you could be there to freeze with us!
